02/2020 UPDATE— Thanks to YOU, the campaign fundraising is complete! Since 2011, your RVR 2.0 gifts have provided vitally needed upgrades to both campuses, including four new year-round bunkhouses at Fort Roller. Your gifts and multi-year pledges helped cross the fundraising finish line in January of 2020. We're be sharing more soon!
Building on a Firm Foundation
The heartbeat of RVR has remained unchanged since 1952, when young Baltimore pastors and brothers, Peter and John Bisset, took a step of faith to share the life-changing message of the Gospel through camp. However, after decades of impact, the mission became threatened by RVR's aging infrastructure. Partnering with friends like you, RVR embarked on a two-phase, $6.5 million campaign to ensure its future ministry. And...
Building for the Future
Phase One — DONE!
Phase 1 began in 2011 when certain RVR buildings were in danger of not passing inspection. Ministry would be crippled if buildings were unusable. By 2014, 499 people had graciously given over $2.4 million in gifts, buildings were refurbished, and Phase 1 was complete. As a result, retention rates for RVR programs have ballooned, filling camps and retreats to overflowing, thus sharing God’s love with as many people as the campus can hold.
Phase Two — in progress...
Phase 2’s focus is the Fort Roller campus. The kitchen and dining hall were refurbished in 2017, and the new bunkhouses are slated for completion by the end of 2019. (There is a creative plan to house 2019’s Fort Roller summer campers.) The new buildings will sleep the same number of guests, but will be usable year-round, sharing God’s love with more people annually (the old cabins were summer-use only). It’s the only new construction of the entire campaign, and you can help make it happen! How?
There are three vital ways you can partner with RVR 2.0:
PRAY— Pray that RVR will continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people. Join the weekly email Prayer Update.
GIVE— Give a generous "stretch" gift to the campaign (either as a one-time gift or three-year promise). Consider giving at least $1/day over three years. If you are a contractor or building supplier, would you consider donating time or materials? Contact Mike at 410.239.3969. Lastly, find out how Planned and Estate Giving could provide you with significant tax advantages.
SHARE— Encourage your friends to support RVR. Bring them to an upcoming event, or host a small event in your home. If you are interested, call Kellye at 410-584-9790 ext.607.
