Last night, RVR experienced a period of heavy rain that resulted in flooding in portions of our Frontier Town campus. We would like to give some clarity and reassurance about what happened and how we responded.
While the flooding caused some minor damage to the property, no camper housing or primary buildings were affected. Fort Roller, our separate program area for younger campers up on the hill, was completely unaffected. Only one small dining building in Frontier Town was affected by a bit of water.
Thanks to our proactive flood protocols, all campers remained safe throughout the heavy rains and flooding. Frontier Town campers were quickly and safely moved out of low-lying areas and were able to enjoy a full evening of camp activities. Today’s schedule has resumed mostly as normal, with only minor adjustments as our team works to clean up residual mud and debris.
In light of recent events in Texas and growing concern around weather-related incidents at camps nationwide, we understand how news of flooding can be unsettling. Please know that safety has always been, and continues to be, our top priority, closely followed by our mission to create meaningful and memorable camp experiences. We’re grateful for the trust families place in us and remain fully committed to providing a safe and impactful environment for every camper.
Campers are having a great time today, and we are looking forward to an awesome Thursday here at RVR!
