We are happy to report that all staff have been tested and we have no new cases of COVID. All quarantined staff have now been released and we are ready to make camp happen for Weeks 6-8 campers. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you at RVR soon!
Previous Update (7/14):
The following is some very important news for our community.
This past week we had two RVR staff members test positive for COVID-19. We discovered these positive tests through our assertive weekly surveillance testing. Once we discovered the positive results, we immediately contacted the Carroll County Health Department (CCHD) and they are in the process of conducting contact tracing for both people. We are working closely with the CCHD.
Due to the number of staff we employ, the CCHD is requiring that we quarantine. Therefore, we have decided that we will not have enough staff to run camp safely, effectively, and to our standards. We have made the difficult decision to end Week 4 camp early, and cancel Week 5 of camp. The safety of our campers, their families. and our staff is always our highest priority. This only applies to overnight camps, and does include both Fort Roller and Frontier Town. Day Camp, which is being held off-site, will continue as planned.
For Week 4 parents, your campers will need to be picked up today between 4:00-5:00, at the location where they were dropped off. For Fort Roller, this will be the Fort Roller parking lot; for Frontier Town, this will be the rodeo arena. In order to make this process simple and efficient we ask that you do not come early.
We will be offering pro-rated refunds to Week 4 families, and full refunds to Week 5 families. We will be processing the refunds throughout the rest of this week. We are also looking to do something special for our Week 4 and 5 families in the Fall to try and make up for the missed experience, even on a small scale. Look for more info on that to come.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused for all of you, and the disappointment you feel. We feel all of those things as well.
We’re hoping that by closing for the next 10 days, the health of our staff will be intact so that we can finish our summer well. Our plan is to reopen for camp on July 25 for Week #6, and finish the summer strong. Please check your email for any updates. We will also post them here.
Like many other camps around the world, we are doing all we can to offer a life-changing week of camp while COVID is still present in our community. Thank you for your patience. Again, there is nothing more important than the health of our campers, their families, and our amazing team.
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at RVR again soon.
