As a way to assist parents who are actively serving our country or have made the ultimate sacrifice in service (wounded warrior or fallen soldier), River Valley Ranch has established the “SSG Chris Swanson Military Camper Fund” in partnership with the SSG Chris Swanson Charity for Veteran’s and their Families, Inc. to help send their children to camp through full or partial scholarships.
SSG CHRIS SWANSON BIO:
SSG Christopher W. Swanson was killed while serving his third tour in Iraq on 07/22/2006. Chris believed in his mission and loved leading his men. Growing up in Maryland, Chris attended River Valley Ranch as a child and later became very active in his Youth Department, including inner city mission’s work. He joined the Army in 1999 with a desire to give back to his country. Whenever Chris was deployed, he never asked for anything for himself, but would always request items for the children of Iraq with whom he would have frequent contact. He loved to assist in programs that gave back to the community and help the “least of these”. In keeping with Chris’ desire to help the less fortunate, River Valley Ranch has established a fund to assist military children in honor of Chris. We will be working closely with the SSG Christopher W. Swanson Veteran Support Charities, Inc., a 501 (c-3) tax exempt organization formed by Chris’ family in 2007, to fulfill as many scholarships as we are able.
