Team Challenge

Here's your chance to recruit some friends, family, neighbors or co-workers to be a part of the River Valley Run Team Challenge…and win some great prizes! Prizes will be awarded for largest team AND the team raising the most money in pledges. Get your group together, create a team name and nominate a captain (any group of five or more qualifies as a team). Be sure to have everyone fill in the team name on the registration form.

Team Prize Info:

  • Team with Greatest Number of Participants: Ok, this one is easy. The team with the largest number of registered participants win's the grand prize. Round up your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers (even random strangers!) for a chance to win!
  • Team that Raises the Most Pledge Money: To win this Grand prize, the team who collects the most pledge money wins. We’ve made it easy for your team to solicit and collect pledges on our Active Giving Team page. You can find it here (be sure to register for the race first). You can also raise money the old fashioned way (in person). There are some great fundraising resources on our web page (see above).
Team Grand Prizes: River Valley Ranch Adventure experience.. All members of the winning team will win a day trip to the Ranch where you can participate in an exciting Adventure activity. Choose from one of the following: 1700' triple zip line (the longest on the east coast), 30' high giant swing, paintball games or a hour long horseback ride along with a delicious meal for your entire group.

Eligibility:
  • Each team must consist of a minimum of five members per team.
  • Each team must assign a team captain.
  • Every team member must participate in either the 5k road or 10k trail race; this is not a relay race.

How To Set Up a Team Page (pdf)

Chick-Fil-APost-Race Round-Up: Be sure to stay for the Post-race Round-up ceremony. We will recognize the top participants in each age group and hand out pledge prize awards. We will also do a number of random giveaways for all who particpate in the race (all who have a bib number). A continental breakfast buffet (including fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuits, and more) will be available for race participants as well as time to relax and cool down after the race, with activities for the entire family.

10k Trail Race Route: The course will begin on paved roads and groomed trails in the lush valley and then proceed to the top of the hill overlooking the scenic Western Town below. It will then proceed primarily through wooded trails (with some moderate to steep up and down grades), up River Valley Ranch's infamous "Dead Man's Hill" (its short but a doozy!) gradually descending to the Gunpowder River where racers will have the option to cross through the river (for the REAL trail runners) or dry across a downed tree and proceed on flat terrain to the finish line. Trails will range from groomed to open field to semi-rocky terrain. Four water stations will be provided on the course.  Feel free to bring  your own hydration as well. We guarantee that this course will be scenic, challenging and one you won't forget!

5k Race Route: The race will begin in the woods of the lush valley of River Valley Ranch on a groomed trail. It will then proceed for several miles on paved country roads (with shade trees for most of the route) past our herd of buffalo (they are fenced in...don't worry!). The race will finish right through our authentic 19th century western town, crossing the Gunpowder Falls river on our covered bridge to the finish line.

Volunteers: Race volunteers needed! We are looking for high school students and older to help with registrations, race set-up and tear-down, the post-race round-up, and much more. If you are interested in volunteering, email Cindy Krohe.
